ASAP: Always Say A Prayer

ASAP —
Always Say A Prayer

A reflection from Sunday's homily at St. Vincent de Paul · Wildwood, FL

"He will respond to all your needs — Always Say A Prayer."

I want to share something from Dcn. Dan Miller's homily this past Sunday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, Florida — a reflection that has stayed with me since I heard it.

He began by mentioning an email he had received during the Easter Season, and from there, he offered something simple but quietly profound. We live in a world that demands everything now — not tomorrow, not later, but right now. The hurry and the pressure have become so constant that most of us barely notice them anymore.

But Dcn. Dan invited us to look at a familiar abbreviation through a different lens — and in doing so, to discover a new way of navigating the hard days that find us all along the way.

Open your minds, and just for a moment listen. There's work to do, deadlines to meet, you've got no time to spare, but as you hurry and scurry — ASAP: Always Say A Prayer.
In the midst of family chaos, quality time is rare, do your best, let God do the rest — ASAP: Always Say A Prayer.
It may seem that your worries are more than you can bear, slow down and take a breather — ASAP: Always Say A Prayer.
And last but not least, God knows how stressful life is, and He wants to ease your cares. He will respond to all your needs — ASAP: Always Say A Prayer.

A simple shift in four letters. The same urgency we give to everything else in our lives — as soon as possible — redirected toward the One who is already waiting to hear from us.

Maybe that's the invitation of this Easter Season: not to slow the pace of life, but to bring prayer into it — right in the middle of the hurry.
